Description: This layer represents the proposed Great Koala National Park (GKNP) boundaries as of 19 December 2025 as approved by the GKNP Inter-agency Steering Committee and relevant NSW Government ministers. There will be further minor refinements to the boundaries prior to reservation and that update will be issued as Version 2. For this reason, the different versions will not be made available as publicly downloadable spatial datasets.The Proposed Boundaries layer identifies the portions of the original GKNP Assessment Area that are proposed for inclusion within the park, as well as those areas proposed to remain as State forest. The dataset also includes State forest areas outside the original Assessment Area that are now proposed for inclusion in the park (for example, existing flora reserves). The boundaries have been spatially aligned with dedicated (gazetted) State forest tenure boundaries to ensure topological consistency and boundary accuracy. Area measurements in hectares are provided for each area of dedicated State forest proposed to become GKNP and proposed to remain as State forest.
